One of the most significant festivals of the year is coming soon Shri Krishna Janmashtami, the appearance day of Lord Krishna. Janmashtami is the one of the most significant festivals in the bhakti tradition. It is a celebration of joy, love, and divinity revolving around the all-attractive form of God, Krishna, who takes the incarnation of a dashing cowherd boy who steals the hearts of the inhabitants of Vrindavan. This celebration is observed by devotees with a whole day fast, cooking Krishna's feast, decorating, kirtan, hearing the glories of Lord Krishna, and worshipping Sri Sri Radha Sharadbihari and Sri Sri Nitai Gaurachandra at midnight with a roaring kirtan and arati.

What to expect
We will open the festival with prayers and a bathing ceremony of Sri Sri Radha Sharadbihari known as abhishek. During and following this there will be bhajans and kirtan which are the musical chanting of prayers, especially the Hare Krishna maha mantra: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. We will have a short spiritual discourse after this kirtan that will explain the significance and unlimited glories of Sri Krishna and His appearance day celebration. To put this into visual effect, our temple devotees and youth will present cultural performances such as dance and drama. The climax of the event is the famous midnight arati during which all devotees can have the darshan of Their Lordships Sri Sri Nitai Gaurachandra and Sri Sri Radha Sharadbihari accompanied with a roaring and energetic arati kirtan. To fuel and nourish, all are welcome to a free vegetarian feast served right after the arati. The temple gift shop will also be open during the celebration so you may take a little bit of the festivities home with you!
